2024 Ktown Team Campaign
Hello
2024 was the year Ktown Team went from planning to building.
For years before that, the work was invisible - legal documents, organizational design, platform architecture, a 186-article wiki documenting how the organization would operate. Necessary groundwork, but nothing the public could see or touch.
In 2024, that changed. We started developing the tools and publishing them. Not all at once, and not with everything polished. But real software, solving real problems, available to real people.
What We Built
The platform went from design documents to live services:
- Hub - a resource directory for Koreatown services and organizations
- Ask - a Q&A tool that searches our knowledge base and returns source-backed answers
- Photo - a community photography archive documenting Koreatown street by street
- Wiki - the full organizational knowledge base, made public
- KATI - our community AI, built under the PAI (People Artificial Intelligence) framework
- News, Events, Blog - community content channels
- Join and Feedback - onboarding and community input forms
By the end of the year, 20 services were live and monitored at status.ktown.team.
What We Learned
Building in public means shipping things before they're perfect. Some tools launched with rough edges. Some got rebuilt. The tradeoff was worth it - real feedback from real residents is better than another year of internal planning.
We also learned that the tools are only half the work. The other half is outreach - making sure the people who need these resources know they exist, in the languages they speak.
What Comes Next
The platform is live. The foundation is set. Now the work shifts to community adoption, outreach, and running campaigns on the issues that matter most to Koreatown - housing, street safety, civic participation, and access to services.
